CMC’s In-House Machinist Apprenticeship Program
The management of CMC believes that the important linkage between academic learning, hands-on training, and on-the-job training results in a deeper level of knowledge, skills and improved ability and satisfaction for our employees and our Company.
CMC is proud to offer such a program on-site at our facility. Our Machinist Apprenticeship program is a combination of on-the-job training and related instruction in which apprentices learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation. Our Pennsylvania state-approved Machinist Apprenticeship program provides a mixture of competency-based learning, classroom and on-the-job training which includes a required 4-year, 8,000 on-the-job hours as well as 144 hours of formal education.
The formal education is conducted by CMC’s Manufacturing Instructor in our state-of-the art apprenticeship training area. Our competency- based program uses National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) credentials combined with ToolingU-SME computer-based learning.
CMC’s Apprenticeship curriculum has been developed to provide the best learning environment to enhance a dynamic and versatile career in machining which includes becoming a Machine Operator, Machinist 1, Machinist 2, and Senior Machinist with journey-person papers.
