Medical Devices

Over 50 years ago, a noted doctor invented a game changing diagnostic and treatment cardiovascular medical device in his kitchen.  He needed an engineering oriented manufacturer to make his device and provide manufacturing design improvements.  He partnered with CMC, and we have been manufacturing this product and its successive generations since then.  The company is now a Fortune 500 customer, and we manufacture approximately 150 products, components and parts for them.  Most are quality certified and are shipped directly to inventory stock.

Transportation

In 2006, a large railroad transportation company approached us to help them solve a frustrating 33% reject rate they were having in one of their facilities for an important replacement service component for freight trains.  They were considering closing their facility and outsourcing the production.  Our engineering team worked with their design engineers to streamline and validate the manufacturing process.  We were able to lower costs through improved production times and achieve a very high Six Sigma quality rating.  As a result, they closed their in-house facility and awarded CMC with the production.  We have been their supplier since.

Industrial

In 2007, a Fortune 500 company met with us to see if we could manufacture a new environmental recovery system.  They had been to many possible manufacturers, and no one could meet the exact tolerances required for this system.  These tolerances were critical to the performance of this vapor recovery system.  Our engineers worked with their team, and we designed an approach that would work.  We have been their sole supplier since.

Nuclear Energy

In 2009, a large nuclear energy technology company which manufactures proprietary nuclear power plants, fuel and plant automation approached us to be a qualified supplier for products in their control rooms.  They were aware of our precision manufacturing capabilities and robust quality system.  As a major supplier to the medical device industry for many years, we are used to meeting demanding requirements.  The manufacturing, quality requirements and documentation in the nuclear industry are very demanding, and we learned to improve our quality data packages which improved our overall operations to satisfy a demanding customer.  We have been an active supplier to them since.

On-Shoring

A customer came to us with an array scanner, a biological instrumentation device, that was being manufactured in Europe. They were frustrated by long lead times and relatively high production costs. They also were interested in improving the outer shell of the product to allow easier access to internal components for their service technicians.  A redesign effort would be difficult to manage from afar, and they were seeking a domestic partner to assist them.

CMC put together a team from our Fabrication, Engineering and Manufacturing departments. We collaborated with the customer's engineers, marketing representatives and field service personnel to understand their needs. As a result, we proposed a unique shell design and fastening system for their product that would allow the unit to be serviced more efficiently.

However, we also found that redesigning the shell was only part of the solution. We recommended reformatting the internal footprint and eliminating unnecessary Bill of Material (BOM) components which could reduce production costs.  Once approved, we sourced alternate components, coordinated new silk screen tooling and helped develop and manage the supply chain for new ISTA-tested packaging (International Safe Transit Association).  These initiatives allowed our client to unveil the repackaged unit as a next generation product.  They have been a customer since.

Quick Response Time

An international rail transit manufacturer came to us when one of their major suppliers was unable to commit to a timeline for a crucial component needed to meet the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority deadline. Missing the deadline would involve severe fines and could jeopardize their future contract with the MTA. They asked if we could come up to speed quickly enough to assist them.  CMC responded by pulling together a project team from various departments and immediately met with the customer to qualify and design the ramp-up of the manufacturing of this product. We developed production timelines, expedited materials from their global supply chain and mandated overtime hours on our manufacturing floor. As a result, we were able to meet a two week target production date which enabled our client to meet their deadline. Based on our performance, the customer chose CMC to be the sole source supplier for the duration of their contract.  We have been a supplier since with quick responsive service on multiple occasions.
